8 Best Beer Gifts From Breweries

1) Great Lakes Brewery Canuck Pale Ale Mens or Ladies T-Shirt

$28.25 from the GLB Retail Store.

Yes, that’s the legend Gordie Levesque front and centre on that tee. Basically it’s a super comfy, grey-washed tee. But dig a little deeper and you may uncover a metaphor that really strikes a chord. You may see a man with a beard, wearing plaid shirt and a toque, who can balance on a log in water while holding a pretty large axe OR you may see that life is about balance and juggling priorities all while keeping a calm demeanour. Whatever you choose to see, this shirt is for you.

2) All Or Nothing New Era Snapback

$34.99 from the All or Nothing store.

Picture a gorgeous sunny day. You’re with your best mates, sitting on a patio. You have one of All Or Nothing’s famous Hopfenweisse brews in your hand. Now, it’s almost a perfect day, but there’s just one thing… the sun is a wee bit in your eyes. Behold, the remedy… this super cool New Era snapback complete with AorN branding in the AofN colour. Now, you’re not only telling people that your sensible about blocking the sun from your face, but you’re also saying that you know beer. That’s a double win.

3) Steam Whistle K-Way Jacket

$64.95 from the Steam Whistle web store.

Remember that wind breaker you used to have when you were young? The one that folded into one of its own pockets for easy storage? Yeah, that one. Well, it just got an upgrade. Steam Whistle colours and a sleek Steam Whistle logo on the chest makes this a must have for fans of the pils. Wind doesn’t stand a chance.

4) Amsterdam Cruiser Messenger Bag

34.99 from the Amsterdam Brewery Store.

This super stylish bag is perfect for hauling your stuff. Even better if some of that stuff is a couple tasty Amsterdam Cruiser All Day Pale Ales. This bag works on many levels: 1) If you’re actually riding a bike and need to hold gear. 2) Your casual, everyday work bag. 3) If you are a fan of the beer. Combine all three and Instagram that look and no doubt royalty checks will come rolling in from Amsterdam. (Note: not really, No ones gunna pay you, but you’ll probably get a lot of likes.)

5) Rorschach Brewery Hoodie

$40.00 from the Rorschach Brewery Store.

Rorschach Brewery is part of the great Toronto East End Beer boom. We welcomed them to Toronto’s Festival of Beer for the first time in 2017. They were a hit. So when you look at their logo, what do you see? Do you see your childhood? Do you see your parents yelling at you because they found a pack of smokes in your room when you were 15, but you promised then that they were Jason’s smokes and you were just holding on to them? Or do you just see a great brewery logo? Either way, a sick hoodie awaits!

6) Left Field Brewing Tank Top

$25.00 from the LFB Store.

We love this tank top. It screams summer. With that killer LF branding, how can someone not love to receive this as a gift? Pair it with some of that Eephus Oatmeal Brown Ale and I’d say that your CRUSHED XMAS thi s year. Left Field also offer a stocking stuffer pack that beer lovers are sure to enjoy. You cannot lose!

7) Folly Brewing Inkhorn Hoodie

$55.00 from the Folly BrewHouse Online Store.

Does it even matter that this hoodie is named after Folly’s Inkhorn? You know, the Cognac Barrel-Aged Farmhouse Bruin? IT HAS A UNICORN ON IT. There will never be a better reason to buy a hoodie. Folly have plenty of cool merch but what does that say about us if we chose something else to feature? Oh, they also make very tasty brews and have a massive whiskey collection.

7 Star Wars Beer Gifts

We did it again! We sent a probe droid to search for the perfect Star Wars related beer gifts. We are pretty pumped for the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Dec 15 and we are big fans of beer, so writing this just felt so natural. Star Wars meets the world of beer. Not sure it gets any better than this…

1) Millenium Falcon Beer Opener

$4 plus shipping from Amazon.

You can add a joke about the Kessel run, but this beer opener is no joke. Probably the coolest opener this side of the galaxy.

2) Rogue One StormTrooper Beer Stein

$41.99 from Amazon.

Yes, we all know how Roque One ended, but do we really need to dwell on the past. It was all for the greater good. This ceramic stein seemed to make it through the devastation. 22 ounces of your favourite bevy awaits! This is one Stormtrooper that will no doubt last and have a place on your shelf for years to come.

3) R2D2 Bottle Stopper

$36.77 from Amazon.

Many brewers are offering larger bottles from their bottle shops now. This is a must have if you are a regular at your local brewers’ bottle shop. This is … wait for it … the droid bottle stopper that you’re looking for.

4) TaunTaun Can Cooler

$9.99 plus shipping from Amazon.

All Star Wars fans remember the iconic moment when Luke was stuffed inside a TaunTaun in order to keep warm on the ice planet Hoth. Now you can give a very similar treatment to your beer! Keep your can cold deep inside the TaunTaun can cooler. What will they think of next?

5) Star Wars Pint Glasses

$41.92 from Amazon.

A true fan of the Resistance or Dark Side/First Order would never pour their beer in just any glass. These Star Wars-inspired pint glasses are perfect. 16oz glasses in a four piece set would look stunning filled with your favourite ale. The only thing better than enjoying a bevy in these glasses would be sitting in the actual Mos Eisley Cantina – which would never, ever happen.

6) Darth Vader Tap Handle

$157 plus shipping from Amazon.

If you are a home brewer with a leaning towards the Dark Side, then we suggest this tap handle. Now all you have to do is brew a proper dark beer and brainstorm with your friends on a killer name. Here are some suggestions: Vader’s Dark Lager? Bogan Black Ale? Sith Stout? Anna-inna-Kan?

7) Han Solo In Carbonite Beer Fridge

$750 or so from Amazon.

Have an extra $700+ lying around your summer house on Alderaan? Then, this beer fridge is for you. That legendary moment when Jabba put Han on display at his palace on Tatooine can now last forever in your den.

Q: Where Is The Actual Entrance To Toronto’s Festival of Beer 2018?

A few years ago, we moved the front entrance to the Better Living Centre. All Gates (A, B, C) will go through the front entrance of the BLC. (Say BLC in your best Snoop Dogg impersonation and you’re a legend) This is just a few steps away from where the entrance has been for the past number of years, so it’s not a dramatic change – just wanted to give everyone the heads up.

Q: – Should I Bring Cash?

Yep. We appreciate plastic just as much as the next person, but cash is king at the Festival. We have teams walking around (pictured) that will be selling tokens and they’ll only accept cash. We’re not saying empty your bank account, but be prepared if you want to move around quickly.  ATMs will be on site. Token Booths do accept Credit Card Payments, but we always reco cash for getting ‘er done quickly.

Q: How Do I Get Tokens?

Tokens are the onsite currency. 1 token = $1. Most samples onsite are 1 token for a 4oz pour. Some brewers charge more: imports and premium brands. They are dedicated booths that sell tokens, along with mobile token teams. They will be easy to spot.

Q: Can I Bring A Backpack?

The quick answer is no… Bags are restricted to small purses, totes and drawstring bags only. Bag size may not exceed 14” x 11” x 5” (35cm x 28cm x 12cm), or 30 linear inches (75cm) in total, and must have no more than one singular pocket or opening. We’ll be using metal detector wands and searching all small bags, totes, and drawstring bags at the gate – it’s not that we don’t trust you, it’s just how it goes! You’ve all been to events before and witnessed someone giving security a hard time over searching their belongings. The reason we do it is not because you’re a criminal, but because we want everyone to be safe and have a great time.

Q: What If I Want To Drive?

Don’t drive! It’s a Beer Festival and chances are you’ll be enjoying some beverages. Please enjoy the convenience of the TTC or a cab or an Ubes. Yeah, we said Ubes. Just no drinking and driving whatsoever.  If you are the DD, here’s some parking info: we do not have designated parking for the festival. We recommend finding Pay Parking in Liberty Village or just avoiding driving altogether, if that’s an option for you.

Q: What If I Want To Stay The Night?

You’re in luck! We’ve partnered with Hilton Toronto to give fans an opportunity to Stay The Night at their luxurious Toronto hotel, located at 145 Richmond St W. We’ve also partnered with our pals at Great Lakes Brewery who have helped us put together an awesome gift pack that includes beer and festival branded merchandise to get you started for the weekend! For more details, check out our blog HERE.

Q: What Was There To Eat at TFOB 2017?

In a word… LOTS. The food purveyors we have this year are second to none. See the entire LIST! Explore them all and be sure to take lots of eating breaks. Click HERE for the full Chef and Grilling Tent Schedule. This is all part of #TasteTFOB – our commitment to providing an incredible food experience. We will definitely raise the bar again in 2018! Stay tuned!

Q: Will There Be Water For Me To Drink?

You need to stay hydrated. Most booths have FREE bottled water. All you have to do is ask for it. And you can also take your commemorative mug (which you get when you arrive), rinse it out and fill it up at a water station. Do not bring your water bottle from home, they will be taken away.

Q: What Happens If It Rains? Or If It’s Too Hot?

Whatever the weather, we will still be pouring. Rain or shine, the show goes on! Remember to dress for the weather and wear sunblock. Even if it is grey and cloudy, wear sunblock. This is vital. Sunblock and water are soooooooo key!! Your raincoat, rubber boats, umbrella may make your experience if it calls for rain.

Q: Do You Really have 400+ Brews To Discover?

About 100 brewers from all over the world will be here. Try something new, something crazy or maybe something you can’t pronounce. Let us open your eyes to a whole new world of beer. *Starts singing A Whole New World from Aladdin*. Seriously, At TFOB we have every type of brewer imaginable. From big to small, and, from local to international.

Thank You #BeerFam

TFOB 2017 is in the books.

Here are some takeaways from the event that was:

1) Oh Canada! Listen friends, we all know that Canadian brewers create outstanding beer, but sampling all the great beer from coast to coast takes time, effort and a whole lotta cash. That’s precisely the reason why we created the #Canada150 Pavilion. 48 brands of beer – most of which are not available in Ontario – BUT during TFOB 2017 they were here. From PEI to BC, we showcased the best – and you loved it. The feedback about the variety and selection of brews was awesome. We’re gunna take that energy and inject it to next years feature country… or countries? We’ve said too much.

2) Get In Ma Belly! The food this year was the perfect pairing to all those brews. Did you even try the paid thai fries from Fidel Gastro’s? Or the pulled pork pie from Pie Commission? OH MY GAWD! Or those delishous Hot Bunz from Hot Bunzz Street Cuisine? GEEZ!! Or how about Lobster Mac n Cheese from Matty’s Seafood? WOWZA!! Honestly, bellies got stuffed and we will do our best to offer even more selection next year.

3) 416 Brews To Discover! Did you have a fav? You must have found something new and exciting this year. 100 brewers showcasing their hard work and efforts. We are already putting the notes together for next year to introduce more and more brewers and more tasty brews. We are always looking for brand new brewers who have never been to our event to get them in our New Brews section. Tweet us if you’ve discovered something new so we can share it withe world!

4) Join The CLUB! Club TFOB was a new offering this year. Chef Craig Harding of Campagnolo and Afrim Pristine of the Cheese Boutique displayed their culinary skills, alongside full-sized brew samples, wine and more. This was an experiment to see if this luxury style option would be something you’d want… and you said yes! The ticket also got you early access to TFOB and air conditioned VIP restrooms, snacks and more. We will be offering Club TFOB again next year, so stay tuned!

5) Let There Be Music! Method Man & Redman were legendary. The energy = unreal. The benchmark for TFOB Friday has been set. We are hard at work seeing who we can get for you next year. TFOB Saturday with Sloan was so memorable for all the right reasons. The vibe was perfect. Sloan playing the hits, brewers pouring the best and the sun shining down on us all. On TFOB Sunday, Alan Doyle brought everything that’s great about his east coast vibe to the Main Stage. It was like the perfect ending to a beautiful weekend. Soulfully leading us into Sunday evening. We promise to keep looking for artists that compliment the beer/summer vibe and can’t wait to announce next year’s line-up to you.

All in all, a pretty epic weekend that saw great weather, countless good times and smiling facing all around. Hope you’ll join us again next year. We’ll go on sale December 1st 2017.

Thank you #BeerFam
