Did TFOB 2016 Tickets Go On Sale Early?

In a word, yes. If you are part of email club, you were emailed the link and password on Oct 30th. You have until Tuesday, Nov 3 at 10am to scoop up your tickets before anyone else.
This is just our part to give exclusive access to those who have taken the time to be part of the club. You can sign up too, since we’ll be adding names and offers as often as possible. Sign up HERE (before 10am on Monday, Nov 2) and we will send you the link and code word on Monday, so you still have a day ahead of everyone else to secure your tickets!

We also want to be totally transparent on the our ticket pricing. We have raised the regular ticket price by $3.00/per ticket, the hoptimized ticket by $5.00/per ticket, and the VIP ticket by $1.00/per ticket. This may or may not seem like much, but it does help us to continue to deliver the best possible festival experience. Our festival utilizes a number of 3rd party suppliers for electrical, staging, security, tents, and a whole host of venue services and rental fees, that continue to rise year after year. These cost increases, in addition to the very high US dollar ( +30%), is not working in our favour, and therefore a price increase was necessary. We still feel that our pricing is fair (and hope that you do too) compared to the other festivals, events and entertainment options available to you.

When and where is TFOB 2016?

That is a very good question. We are back at Exhibition Place on July 22, 23, 24 2016.

Tell Me What Bands Are Playing!!

We will… very soon-ish. Bands for Friday, Saturday and Sunday of our event will be announced in the next few weeks/months. We’ll probably announce a band in early December, one in January, and one in February. I guess you could say this is our marketing tactic to build momentum and excitement about a summer beer event in the dreary days of Winter.

How Many Beers Will Be At TFOB 2016?

As you know, last year we had over 300 beer brands at TFOB. (316 to be exact, but who’s counting!) This year we want to increase that number, in an effort to offer you the absolute widest array of beer to sample. Beer Discovery is our biggest piece of feedback from you. We want you to be able to discover new brews and sample old favs.

Any New Food Vendors at TFOB 2016?

Glad you asked. The answer is yes. You are gonna love the selection. Last year we added a whole bunch of new food peeps including the Official TFOB Jumbo Soft Pretzel. In 2016, we will continue the theme of awesome food choices. Once we have the line up we will tell you all about it, but we have to sample them all first. Jealous? Nom nom nom.

When Do Your Spring Sessions Ticket Go On Sale?

Wow. You are really doing your homework. Spring Sessions of TFOB are tentatively scheduled for May 2016 so our tickets will go on sale in early April 2016.

What Is Your Favourite TV Show?

That’s an unexpected question, but it’s really a toss up between Breaking Bad, The Wire and Game Of Thrones. Special shout out to The Walking Dead.

We hope to see you at TFOB 2016. We are working super hard to put together the best and biggest beer festival in Canada. The countdown is now on!

5 Irish beer to try this St. Patrick’s Day

As Irish luck might have it, last fall Les Murray, president of TFOB and I got the opportunity to head over to Dublin for the Irish Craft Beer & Cider Festival. We brought 6 different Ontario brews with us and showcased them to excited Dubliners, while also enjoying some Irish brews ourselves!

With St Patrick’s Day around the corner, I’ve been thinking about all of the great beer we tried on that trip, and I thought I’d share some of my faves from it that you can get right here in Toronto!

Good news: They’re so good that we’re also working on bringing them over to showcase in the Irish Beer Pavilion at Toronto’s Festival of Beer this July. So even if the taps run dry this St. Patrick’s Day, we’ve got you covered.

  1. O’Hara’s BrewingIrish Stout

This baby is brewed in Carlow, Ireland, right near Kilkenny. The brewery does a variety of different styles, seasonals and one-offs but the Irish Stout has got to be my favourite. Luckily enough, it is available in the LCBO riiiight by my house.

  1. Brú BreweryBrú Rua

The Brú Rua from Brú Brewery, that only opened in 2013 in County Meath, has already made its way across to us! A hearty Irish Red ale made using Irish Malt and all-natural Irish Ingredients. Pop by Betty’s for a taste!

  1. McGargle’s Irish Family Brewers

And a family they are! Each beer from this brewery is dedicated to a specific and wacky member of the family. You can find “Granny Mary’s Red Ale,” “Knock Knock Ned’s IPA,” “Uncle Jim’s Stout,” “Cousin Rosie’s Pale Ale,” and “Fancy Frank Lager”… Some of the fam will be at Toronto’s Festival of Beer, but in the meantime grab the taster at An Sibin Pub in Riverside and give the whole family a whirl.

  1. Hercules Brewing – Yardsman Lager

Representing Northern Ireland on this list, Hercules Brewing was the first craft brewery to open in Northern Ireland over 160 years ago. They have since re-opened, re-vamped and started to produce beer yet again! Their Yardsman Lager pays homage to Irish men who worked in the mills of Ireland; and while you can’t get it in Toronto yet, it will soon be on a plane over to Toronto’s Festival of Beer, so you can at least get excited.

  1. Kilkenny – Irish Cream Ale

Made at the Guinness Brewery. Who would have known? Guinness steals the St. Patrick’s Day spotlight, but don’t forget this other gem they brew. Creamy, oh so creamy.

Other honourable mentions…but you’ll have to hop on a plane to try them:

  1. Franciscan Well – Rebel Red

  2. Hilden Brewery – Headless Dog

  3. The Porterhouse Brewing Co. – Plain Porter

  4. Dan Kelly’s Irish Cider
