Falling For Autumn Flavours? Check Out These Tasty Fall Brews Available Now!

TFOB_Fall_Web

Fall is here and it’s one of the best times to taste and discover some incredible creations that the brewing industry is producing. Now is when you are sure to see a ton of new Stouts, Porters, Amber Ales and even some tasty Autumn flavours like Pumpkin!

We did some research and wanted to share some really cool ones that are available right now. If discovering new beer is something you enjoy doing as much as us, then you need to check this out! Whether you head to your local Beer Store or fancy taking a trip to each breweries bottle shop, you are bound to find something that suits your taste-buds. Check it out below!

Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery – Paranormal Imperial Pumpkin Ale

This rich and mesmerizing brew has distinctive roasted pumpkin aromas with a beautiful orange body that are bolstered by tastes of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice. Think pumpkin pie and a malty incarnation of graham cracker crust.

Great Lakes Brewery – Saison Dupump

This Belgium Saison by Great Lakes Brewery has aromas of earth, spice and pumpkin with nutty and spicy notes underlying. It’s dry and fruity with a cleansing hops bitterness.

Nickelbrook Brewing Co. – Cheeky Bastard Stout

A twist on a traditional English stout, this dark ale is packed with rich chocolate, light roast and sweet maltiness, but it remains incredibly smooth and drinkable. It’s low in ABV (4.5%) but high in deliciousness. Certainly, a cheeky brew that is perfect for enjoying during the fall season.

McAuslan Brewery – St-Ambroise Pumpkin Ale

This magical brew casts a potent smell with its well-crafted blend of blond caramelized malts, gentle hop, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and pumpkin. It has a hint of sweetness with a malty character that is perfect for anyone looking for an easy-drinking refreshment.

Sawdust City Brewing Co. – Maple Butter Tart Ale

This brew has a deep amber colour with a creamy head. Rich aromas of maple, butter rum pudding, vanilla, and caramel candy lead the way for notes of pie crust, toffee, molasses and chocolate. It has a dry, medium bodied, creamy, well-balanced crisp-hoppy bitterness. Try it for yourself and you will notice tastes of maple, toffee, and malt, along with subtle noted of fruit, amber rum and butter.

The 2019 edition of Toronto’s Festival of Beer presented by the Beer Store happens July 26 to 28 at Bandshell Park Exhibition Place. There will be hundreds of breweries, dozens of food choices, and live entertainment each day. Hoppy Thanksgiving! Enjoy Your Turkey with These Tasty Ontario Based Brews

TFOB-Thanks-Web

Thanksgiving is already here and we could not be more excited! It’s one of our favourite holidays of the year because let’s face it, we have a lot to be thankful for… Our loving family, great friends, and of course our favourite golden beverage #Beer.

No matter how you plan to celebrate this wonderful weekend, you have tons of beer options available to pair with all that delicious food you will be eating. Here are some great options to consider when heading over to your local Beer Store. Happy Thanksgiving!

Anderson Craft Ales – Amber Ale

Anderson Craft Ales’ Amber is an enticing combination of caramel, toffee, biscuit, bread and malt notes, perfectly balanced with a touch of North American hop character.

Broadhead Brewing Co. – Grindstone Amber Ale

Broadhead’s Grindstone Amber is a super tasty, rich-coloured amber ale that is hell-bent on hitting the spot. It has just the right balance of caramel malts and finished with a sweet sharpness,. It’s a refreshing medium body ale.

Mill St. Brewery – Vanilla Porter

Mill St. Brewery’s Vanilla Porter is a great cold weather beer. The vanilla extract used is cold pressed from vanilla orchid bean pods giving it over 250 individual flavor notes resulting in a attractive depth of flavor.

Muskoka Brewery – Harvest Ale

Muskoka Brewery’s Harvest Ale marks the end of the growing season and the process of gathering mature crops from the fields. This year, Muskoka Brewery worked with local farmers across Ontario to brew a true reflection of Ontario’s harvest in their beer. Prepare to taste malt forward, soft biscuit flavours that transform into notes of mango, grapefruit, and stone-fruit.

Beaus All Natural Brewing Co. – Fall Mix Pack

Beaus All Natural Brewing Co., has a Fall Mix Pack that includes their crisp and refreshing Lug Tread Lagered Ale, along with three other interesting and tasty brews we think you’ll enjoy too: like their Maple Rush Porter, Dortmunder, and their CDN Pale Ale.

The Maple Rush has a heady mixture of black malt and espresso notes that are softened by sweet maple wood impressions, while their Dortmunder offers floral, herbal and malty notes with a flavour balanced grainy cereal sweetness offset by firm hop bitterness. The CDN Pale Ale is a medium-bodied beer with a silky mouthfeel, moderate bitterness and big fruit flavours.

It’s a fun variety to sample or share with friends, all in one handy-dandy box!

The 2019 edition of Toronto’s Festival of Beer presented by the Beer Store happens July 26 to 28 at Bandshell Park Exhibition Place. It’s National Drink Beer Day! Celebrate At These Five New Toronto Breweries

Beerday_Web

It’s National Drink Beer Day! On top of that, it’s also Friday – WOO!!! Start rallying the troops and get ready to kick off the weekend by simply raising a glass of your favourite ale or lager.

Don’t know where to start? Here is a list of five great Toronto breweries / brewpubs that just opened up in 2018, that are totally worth checking out!

The Aviary Brewpub

The Aviary Brewpub is the larger sibling of the popular Dundas and Dovercourt neighbourhood sports bar Dock Ellis and home of Longslice Brewing. It’s a great place to enjoy some retro music, shoot some pool, and play some nostalgic arcade games. Also, all Longslice draught is just $7.08 for 16 ounce pours, including their famous Hopta La Vista.

Lot 30 Brewers

Lot 30’s namesake is torn from the pages of the city’s history because the plot of land they sit on was originally called “Park Lot 30” before it was parcelled off in to the vibrant community it is now. Their beer is said to be inspired by the industrial history that once filled this area of Toronto (Lansdowne & Dundas) so if you like history and beer this might be the perfect place for you!

People’s Pint Brewing Company

People’s Pint Brewing Company started back in 2015 and their story is quite unique. They did some serious organic community outreach before actually opening a physical location. They built their following by collaborating with other brewers and hosting small beer tasting events out of local beer focused venues in Toronto like The Gladstone Hotel, Lansdowne Brewery, and even 3030 Dundas. Eventually they saved up enough money and in 2016 they made a deal to purchase 4HL fermenters and brite tank from Muddy York Brewing Company and at the beginning of 2018 ended up taking over Junction Craft Brewing’s old facility after they expanded. They officially opened their doors on March 16, 2018 and are certainly worth checking out!

The Six Brewing Company

Nestled in the hearty of Trinity Bellwoods, The Six Brewing Co., is a great spot to not only enjoy a delicious ice-cold beer but also a great spot to enjoy some tasty eats as well! Their website states that they are dedicated to creating exceptional craft beer that is every bit as unique and cultured as our city and it shows! When you walk in their brew house their dark lighting immediately gives you a sense of an edgy hang out and somewhere you want to be. We really enjoyed their White Squirrel Wit but since the fall & winters seasons are upon us, you might want to give their Trash Panda Porter a try because it’s very tasty.

Von Bugle Brewing

The Bugle was one of the first European instruments to make the journey and was favoured for its simplicity and versatility. Von Bugle Brewing attributes its Brewmasters inspiration to this very instrument while staying true to the same brewing methods and ingredients that travelled with our European forefathers, and the way beer was first brewed in Canada. Their core brew is their Von Bugle Munich lager which is a rich, well balanced amber lager that uses European malts and noble hops. It brings the old world to the new world because some traditions should never change. Be sure to visit their Tap Room just off the Gardiner Express Way in south Etobicoke.

The 2019 edition of Toronto’s Festival of Beer presented by the Beer Store happens July 26 to 28 at Bandshell Park Exhibition Place. There will be hundreds of breweries, dozens of food choices, and live entertainment each day. Thanks For The #BeerLove… See You Next Year!

TFOB_Thankyou_Web

TFOB 2018 is in the books.

Here are some takeaways from the event that was:

1) #TFOB2018 Got Pretty Funky! Listen friends… We knew Sour Beer was the hot topic going in to this year, but we didn’t realize how funky things were going to actually get. Our TFOB Spotlight was bumping all weekend long with all your favourite hits. At one point, if you looked inside it was a raging dance party. So, cheers to keeping things funky and loving sour beer!

2) Get In Ma Belly! The food this year was outstanding! We had so many options to choose from, including fried chicken to pay respect to Luda’s Chicken & Beer album. We had some new vendors join us as well like ONO Pokè and The Jerk Bros, while some vendors returned from previous years like Fidel Gastros and Ted’s World Famous BBQ. Basically, it was impossible for

3) Toronto Stands By Its Neighbours! We launched a special TorontoStrong ticket offer last week for our Thursday Night show. This ticket was valued at $25 + HST and 100% of the proceeds are being donated back to the families affected by the Danforth Shooting Tragedy. We managed to raise $10,000 with this ticket in the 24 hours it was on sale and to make this story even better, Broken Social Scene agreed to donate an additional $5,000 to the cause as well. We are reaching out to our brewery friends and beer family for additional support for the fund. Torontoians stand strong in times of need.

4) The New Brews On The Block Are Amazing! We had 12 brewers set up at #TFOB2018 for the very first time in our New Brews, presented by TekSavvy pavilion and they were a huge hit. From Midtown Brewery, to OverHop, to even Glutenberg, these brewers set the bar for having some incredible products and you knew exactly why when you spoke with them. They all are so passionate when they talk about their product so congrats to them on making this year’s festival even better than it already was.

5) Join The CLUB! This was the second year we offered Club TFOB experience and you proved to us once again that you appreciate the luxury experience. Chef Craig Harding of Campagnolo, La Palma, and Constantine displayed his amazing culinary skills, alongside full-sized brew samples, wine and more. The ticket also got you early access to TFOB and air conditioned VIP restrooms, snacks and more. We will be offering Club TFOB again next year, so stay tuned!

6) Let There Be Music! TFOB Thursday features the likes of some pretty rad Canadian Bands. The Darcys, The Rural Alberta Advantage and Broken Social Scene put a whole new spin on the music component at TFOB and based on your feedback – you were totally in to it! Ludacris put on an electrifying performance on Friday to a sold out crown of 11,000 people. It was absolutely bonkers looking out to the crowd and seeing an ocean of beer lovers like yourself take it all in. TFOB Saturday was a great day to sing all your favourite hits because Dwayne Gretzky rocked the park. They sang everything from 70s hits, 80s hits, to some 90s favourites and even early 2000s so there was something for everyone to sing. Our personal favourite was when they sang Bohemian Rhapsody and the enter park sang in unison – what an amazing experience. Finally, TFOB Sunday brought some kick-ass rock and roll bands to the OLG Bandshell Stage which included I Mother Earth and Finger Eleven. They even joined forces at the end and sand on stage together. We also can’t forget how awesome the opening acts were too, Stuck On Planet Earth and Brothers of North did an amazing job and really put on an in your face rock-and-roll show that helped prime people for the grand finally to the weekend.

All in all, a pretty epic weekend that saw great weather, countless good times and smiling facing all around. Hope you’ll join us again next year. We’ll go on sale December 1st 2018.

Thank you for all the #BeerLove

  • Blanket

Q: What Can’t I Bring With Me?

  • Pets (We love them, but they can’t come with you)
  • Children (We love them too, but they can’t come with you. This is a 19+ event)
  • Any type of Water Bottle – We have FREE WATER available all weekend long through our festival Quench Buggy meant strictly for drinking. You don’t need to bring that fancy water bottle!
  • Food

  • Illegal Substances (aka: Weed, ganja, green, doobs, doobies, reefer, trees, hash, hashish, devils lettuce, shrooms, or any other type of drug) Even if you have a card or something that says you can smoke, that does not mean you can smoke within the grounds. Our liquor license is very clear and does not allow it. There is also no ‘in-out’ privileges, so please keep that in mind.

Q: Where Is The Actual Entrance To Toronto’s Festival of Beer 2018?

The entrance to Toronto’s Festival of Beer is in front of the Better Living Centre (100 Princes’ Blvd). All Gates (A, B, C) will go through the front entrance of the BLC. (Say BLC in your best Snoop Dogg impersonation and you’re a legend) This is just a few steps away from where the entrance has been for the past number of years, so it’s not a dramatic change – just wanted to give everyone the heads up.

Q: – Should I Bring Cash?

Yep. We appreciate plastic just as much as the next person, but cash is king at the Festival. We have teams walking around (pictured) that will be selling tokens and they’ll only accept cash. We’re not saying empty your bank account, but be prepared if you want to move around quickly.  ATMs will be on site. Token Booths do accept Credit Card Payments, but we always reco cash for getting ‘er done quickly.

Q: How Do I Get Tokens?

Tokens are the onsite currency. 1 token = $1. Most samples onsite are 1 token for a 4oz pour. Some brewers charge more: imports and premium brands. There are dedicated booths that sell tokens, along with mobile token teams. They will be easy to spot.

Q: Can I Bring A Backpack?

The quick answer is no… Bags are restricted to small purses, totes and drawstring bags only. Bag size may not exceed 14” x 11” x 5” (35cm x 28cm x 12cm), or 30 linear inches (75cm) in total, and must have no more than one singular pocket or opening. We’ll be using metal detector wands and searching all small bags, totes, and drawstring bags at the gate – it’s not that we don’t trust you, it’s just how it goes! You’ve all been to events before and witnessed someone giving security a hard time over searching their belongings. The reason we do it is not because you’re a criminal, but because we want everyone to be safe and have a great time.

Q: What If I Want To Drive?

Don’t drive! It’s a Beer Festival and chances are you’ll be enjoying some beverages. Please enjoy the convenience of the TTC, a cab, an Ubes or even a Lyft. Yeah, we said Ubes. Just no drinking and driving whatsoever.  If you are the DD, here’s some parking info: we do not have designated parking for the festival. We recommend finding Pay Parking in Liberty Village or just avoiding driving altogether, if that’s an option for you.

Q: What Is There To Eat at TFOB 2018?

In a word… LOTS. The food purveyors we have this year are second to none. See the entire LIST! Explore them all and be sure to take lots of eating breaks. This is all part of #TasteTFOB – our commitment to providing an incredible food experience.

Q: Will There Be Water For Me To Drink?

You need to stay hydrated. We have FREE WATER available all weekend long through our festival Quench Buggy which will be there strictly for drinking. Do not bring your water bottle from home, they will be taken away.

Q: What Happens If It Rains? Or If It’s Too Hot?

Whatever the weather, we will still be pouring. Rain or shine, the show goes on! Remember to dress for the weather and wear sunblock. Even if it is grey and cloudy, wear sunblock. This is vital. Sunblock and water are soooooooo key!! Your raincoat, rubber boats, umbrella may make your experience if it calls for rain.

Q: Do You Really have 416 Brews To Discover?

About 100 brewers from all over the world will be here. Try something new, something crazy or maybe something you can’t pronounce. Let us open your eyes to a whole new world of beer. *Starts singing A Whole New World from Aladdin*. Seriously, At TFOB we have every type of brewer imaginable. From big to small, and, from local to international. Plus, this year we are featuring three exciting TFOB Spotlights: Women In Beer, Victoria, BC with Phillips Brewing & Malting Co., and Funk Town.

That’s it! We can’t wait to see you all this weekend at TFOB 2018.
