Give one to a beer buff or outdoor adventurer to inspire the question, “Where to next, brew crew?”

Buying gift cards may be considered a cop out, BUT, not if it’s a beer gift card.

When you purchase this for a loved one, it says, “I love you. In fact, I love you so much that I travelled to my local Beer Store and purchased this gift card for you.”

The least they could do in return is go buy some brews straight away and share them with you. Cheers to you both.

An easy-pull tap handle makes dispensing easy, while a removable drip tray catches any drips.

Lambic Basket – $81.30

Fan of Belgium Beer? Lambic is a specific style of beer from Belgium, considered special because it’s fermented with native yeast in the bottle. (That’s also known as bottle-conditioned beer.) But the yeast means that it’s a finicky type of beer to serve, and so you want to pour it and store it at a tilt so that you don’t get sediment in your glass while drinking. That’s where the lambic basket comes in, and it’s a great gift for Belgian beer nerds.

Outdoor Beer Growler Carrier and Glasses – $58.88 – 75.89

Take this beer growler and glassware tote to your next picnic, barbecue or tailgate party, and it’s like bringing your favourite local brewhouse with you. The heirloom-quality tote is full of handcrafted details, from its wrought iron frame, to the removable handle and its lathe-formed metal coil. Perhaps the best feature of the carrier, however, is that it includes a quartet of actual glasses, which offer a grown-up alternative to sipping from a plastic cup.

No, it’s not too early to think about summer, so get the beer lover in your life tickets to the beer event of the summer; with 35,000+ attendees over three glorious days.

You can also get creative with how you give the tickets. Buy ‘em, print ‘em, place ‘em in case of beer? Or hang them from the tree? Be festive! That’s #BeerLove.

Q: What will the security be like at the festival? How long will it take to enter?

Our front gate and security staff are industry professionals who will help get everyone in to the event in an efficient and safe manner. Please anticipate a short wait before entering the event so that our staff can be thorough in searching our attendees. It’s for your own safety so let’s work together on this and it will help everything move a lot quicker. Below is our formal notice regarding our safety protocol when entering the event…

In order to provide our patrons with a safe environment, the following security measures may be in effect:

1) As a condition of entry and for the purpose of public safety, everyone will be subject to reasonable search of their person including the use of hand-held metal detectors and/or pat downs.

2) Searches may cause brief delays in entering, so we encourage everyone to arrive early. Those patrons who do not carry any items into TFOB will enter more rapidly than those who bring items in with them. Guests are encouraged to leave belongings in their vehicles or at home whenever possible.

3) Law enforcement personnel will be present at entrances along with our staff to ensure guest safety. We thank our guests for their patience and cooperation in making your experience at TFOB safe and enjoyable.

4) Please report any suspicious activity in or around TFOB – See Something, Say Something
Safety is everyone’s responsibility – if you see suspicious activity please report it to any member of our Event staff or uniformed Police personnel.

Q: Where Is The Actual Entrance To Toronto’s Festival of Beer 2019?

The front entrance is located at the Better Living Centre. All Gates (A, B, C) will go through the front entrance of the BLC. (Say BLC in your best Snoop Dogg impersonation and you’re a legend) This is just a few steps away from where the entrance has been for the past number of years, so it’s not a dramatic change – just wanted to give everyone the heads up.

Q: – Should I Bring Cash?

Yep. We appreciate plastic just as much as the next person, but cash is king at the Festival. We have teams walking around (pictured) that will be selling tokens and they’ll only accept cash. We’re not saying empty your bank account, but be prepared if you want to move around quickly.  ATMs will be on site. Token Booths do accept Credit Card Payments, but we always reco cash for getting ‘er done quickly.

Q: How Do I Get Tokens?

Tokens are the onsite currency. 1 token = $1. Most samples onsite are 1 token for a 4oz pour. Some brewers charge more: imports and premium brands. They are dedicated booths that sell tokens, along with mobile token teams. They will be easy to spot.

Q: Can I Bring A Backpack?

The quick answer is no… Bags are restricted to small purses, totes and drawstring bags only. Bag size may not exceed 14” x 11” x 5” (35cm x 28cm x 12cm), or 30 linear inches (75cm) in total, and must have no more than one singular pocket or opening. We’ll be using metal detector wands and searching all small bags, totes, and drawstring bags at the gate – it’s not that we don’t trust you, it’s just how it goes! You’ve all been to events before and witnessed someone giving security a hard time over searching their belongings. The reason we do it is not because you’re a criminal, but because we want everyone to be safe and have a great time.

Q: Will I be photographed at the event?

Our photography / video team might see you and say… “WOW! That person looks like they are having the best time, I need to capture this moment!” If that happens you should know that by entering the event premises, you consent to photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, web casts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by Beerlicious Inc.

Q: What If I Want To Drive?

Don’t drive! It’s a Beer Festival and chances are you’ll be enjoying some beverages. Please enjoy the convenience of the TTC or a cab or an Ubes. Yeah, we said Ubes. Just no drinking and driving whatsoever.  If you are the DD, here’s some parking info: we do not have designated parking for the festival. We recommend finding Pay Parking in Liberty Village or just avoiding driving altogether, if that’s an option for you.

Q: What Was There To Eat at TFOB 2018?

In a word… LOTS. The food purveyors coming to the festival this year will be second to none. We will post the final list by June, 2019 so keep checking back and you’ll find all the details! Explore them all and be sure to take lots of eating breaks. This is all part of #TasteTFOB – our commitment to providing an incredible food experience. We will definitely raise the bar again in 2019! Stay tuned!

Q: Will There Be Water For Me To Drink?

You need to stay hydrated. That’s why we offer FREE WATER through our quench buggy on site. Just take your commemorative mug (which you get when you arrive), rinse it out and fill it up at a water station. Do not bring your water bottle from home, they will be taken away.

Q: What Happens If It Rains? Or If It’s Too Hot?

Whatever the weather, we will still be pouring. Rain or shine, the show goes on! Remember to dress for the weather and wear sunblock. Even if it is grey and cloudy, wear sunblock. This is vital. Sunblock and water are soooooooo key!! Your raincoat, rubber boats, umbrella may make your experience if it calls for rain.

Q: Do You Really have 400+ Brews To Discover?

Our festival hosts 100 brewers from all over the world every year and most brewers bring multiple brands. Try something new, something crazy or maybe something you can’t pronounce. Let us open your eyes to a whole new world of beer. *Starts singing A Whole New World from Aladdin*. Seriously, At TFOB we have every type of brewer imaginable. From big to small, and, from local to international.

8 Best Beer Gifts From Breweries

1) Great Lakes Brewery Canuck Pale Ale Mens or Ladies T-Shirt

$28.25 from the GLB Retail Store.

Yes, that’s the legend Gordie Levesque front and centre on that tee. Basically it’s a super comfy, grey-washed tee. But dig a little deeper and you may uncover a metaphor that really strikes a chord. You may see a man with a beard, wearing plaid shirt and a toque, who can balance on a log in water while holding a pretty large axe OR you may see that life is about balance and juggling priorities all while keeping a calm demeanour. Whatever you choose to see, this shirt is for you.

2) All Or Nothing New Era Snapback

$34.99 from the All or Nothing store.

Picture a gorgeous sunny day. You’re with your best mates, sitting on a patio. You have one of All Or Nothing’s famous Hopfenweisse brews in your hand. Now, it’s almost a perfect day, but there’s just one thing… the sun is a wee bit in your eyes. Behold, the remedy… this super cool New Era snapback complete with AorN branding in the AofN colour. Now, you’re not only telling people that your sensible about blocking the sun from your face, but you’re also saying that you know beer. That’s a double win.

3) Steam Whistle K-Way Jacket

$64.95 from the Steam Whistle web store.

Remember that wind breaker you used to have when you were young? The one that folded into one of its own pockets for easy storage? Yeah, that one. Well, it just got an upgrade. Steam Whistle colours and a sleek Steam Whistle logo on the chest makes this a must have for fans of the pils. Wind doesn’t stand a chance.

4) Amsterdam Cruiser Messenger Bag

34.99 from the Amsterdam Brewery Store.

This super stylish bag is perfect for hauling your stuff. Even better if some of that stuff is a couple tasty Amsterdam Cruiser All Day Pale Ales. This bag works on many levels: 1) If you’re actually riding a bike and need to hold gear. 2) Your casual, everyday work bag. 3) If you are a fan of the beer. Combine all three and Instagram that look and no doubt royalty checks will come rolling in from Amsterdam. (Note: not really, No ones gunna pay you, but you’ll probably get a lot of likes.)

5) Rorschach Brewery Hoodie

$40.00 from the Rorschach Brewery Store.

Rorschach Brewery is part of the great Toronto East End Beer boom. We welcomed them to Toronto’s Festival of Beer for the first time in 2017. They were a hit. So when you look at their logo, what do you see? Do you see your childhood? Do you see your parents yelling at you because they found a pack of smokes in your room when you were 15, but you promised then that they were Jason’s smokes and you were just holding on to them? Or do you just see a great brewery logo? Either way, a sick hoodie awaits!

6) Left Field Brewing Tank Top

$25.00 from the LFB Store.

We love this tank top. It screams summer. With that killer LF branding, how can someone not love to receive this as a gift? Pair it with some of that Eephus Oatmeal Brown Ale and I’d say that your CRUSHED XMAS thi s year. Left Field also offer a stocking stuffer pack that beer lovers are sure to enjoy. You cannot lose!

7) Folly Brewing Inkhorn Hoodie

$55.00 from the Folly BrewHouse Online Store.

Does it even matter that this hoodie is named after Folly’s Inkhorn? You know, the Cognac Barrel-Aged Farmhouse Bruin? IT HAS A UNICORN ON IT. There will never be a better reason to buy a hoodie. Folly have plenty of cool merch but what does that say about us if we chose something else to feature? Oh, they also make very tasty brews and have a massive whiskey collection.

8) TFOB 2018 Tickets

7 Star Wars Beer Gifts

We did it again! We sent a probe droid to search for the perfect Star Wars related beer gifts. Not sure it gets any better than this…

1) Millenium Falcon Beer Opener

$4 plus shipping from Amazon.

You can add a joke about the Kessel run, but this beer opener is no joke. Probably the coolest opener this side of the galaxy.

2) Rogue One StormTrooper Beer Stein

$41.99 from Amazon.

Yes, we all know how Roque One ended, but do we really need to dwell on the past. It was all for the greater good. This ceramic stein seemed to make it through the devastation. 22 ounces of your favourite bevy awaits! This is one Stormtrooper that will no doubt last and have a place on your shelf for years to come.

All Star Wars fans remember the iconic moment when Luke was stuffed inside a TaunTaun in order to keep warm on the ice planet Hoth. Now you can give a very similar treatment to your beer! Keep your can cold deep inside the TaunTaun can cooler. What will they think of next?

5) Star Wars Pint Glasses

$41.92 from Amazon.

A true fan of the Resistance or Dark Side/First Order would never pour their beer in just any glass. These Star Wars-inspired pint glasses are perfect. 16oz glasses in a four piece set would look stunning filled with your favourite ale. The only thing better than enjoying a bevy in these glasses would be sitting in the actual Mos Eisley Cantina – which would never, ever happen.

6) Darth Vader Tap Handle

$157 plus shipping from Amazon.

If you are a home brewer with a leaning towards the Dark Side, then we suggest this tap handle. Now all you have to do is brew a proper dark beer and brainstorm with your friends on a killer name. Here are some suggestions: Vader’s Dark Lager? Bogan Black Ale? Sith Stout? Anna-inna-Kan?

Top 5 Reasons To Stay In On New Year’s Eve

It’s no secret. We love beer. We love discovering new brews. Like, who doesn’t? And there’s no better time to discover beer than in a cozy environment with friends. That’s why we are highly recommending that you stay in on New Year’s Eve. We came up with 5 pretty compelling reasons to support our cause. Let us present our case…

5) The Taxi Situation – Finding a cab or Uber is hard work on NYE. PLUS – the surge pricing will be crazy. PLUS – if you’re out with more then 4 friends, you have to find two cabs! Every person you know (you included) has a horror story about trying to catch a cab on New Year’s. It’s the worst! Skip it.

4) The Food – Staying in is your chance to show off your culinary skills. Just youtube some fancy recipes and get ready to receive the accolades! (HINT: google slow cooker recipes. so easy!) Or maybe make it a potluck. Everyone bring their best dish. Make sure you delegate someone for apps and desert or everyone might bring mains, and you need to eat sweets!

3) The Company – Spending time with your friends means everything. Play a board game, jump down a Youtube video wormhole, watch some sports, play video games, play cards (we recommend Cribbage, because MUGGINS!)

2) The Hassle – Not deciding on a place to eat, how to get there and how to get home safely is music to our ears. Does it get any better?

1) The Beer – Show off your beer knowledge and make sure your friends only bring their favs. Have some sampling glasses on hand so everyone can try everything. (Our TFOB Festival Mug makes a great sampling mug… just saying… check your cupboards for last years mug!)

The beautiful benefit of staying in, is not drinking and driving. Maybe make it a sleepover for everyone? Rock those onesies or PJs and welcome 2017 in style.

Tag your photos with #BeerFam because we love to share! See you in 2017!
