Q: What Can/Should I Bring With Me?

  • Valid photo ID – This is a 19+ event (a photocopy of ID does not count). Valid ID includes: Drivers License, Passport, or Ontario Photo Card.
  • Your Ticket. (Best to print it out and bring with you, unless you ordered a mobile ticket)
  • Sunblock
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Bags are restricted to small purses, totes and drawstring bags only. Bag size may not exceed 14” x 11” x 5” (35cm x 28cm x 12cm), or 30 linear inches (75cm) in total, and must have no more than one singular pocket or opening.
  • Comfortable Shoes
  • Cash
  • TTC tokens / PRESTO card
  • Mobile phone – to take selfies, call a cab, ‘Ubes’ or Lyft – Please enjoy responsibly, don’t drink and drive.
  • Raincoat, Umbrella (check the weather before you leave home)
  • Blanket

Q: What Can’t I Bring With Me?

  • Pets (We love them, but they can’t come with you)
  • Children (We love them too, but they can’t come with you. This is a 19+ event)
  • Any type of Water Bottle – We have FREE WATER available all weekend long through our festival Quench Buggy meant strictly for drinking. You don’t need to bring that fancy water bottle!
  • Food
  • Chairs
  • Backpacks and bags with multiple pockets as well as Hydration packs are prohibited
  • Coolers
  • Large video cameras
  • Selfie Sticks (seriously, are these things still a ‘thing’? lol)
  • Cameras, other than for personal use
  • Mobile phone charger (there is no place to plug it in)
  • Water guns
  • Your own glassware/bottles.
  • Illegal Substances (aka: Weed, ganja, green, doobs, doobies, reefer, trees, hash, hashish, devils lettuce, shrooms, or any other type of drug) Even if you have a card or something that says you can smoke, that does not mean you can smoke within the grounds. Our liquor license is very clear and does not allow it. There is also no ‘in-out’ privileges, so please keep that in mind.

Q: Where Is The Actual Entrance To Toronto’s Festival of Beer 2018?

The entrance to Toronto’s Festival of Beer is in front of the Better Living Centre (100 Princes’ Blvd). All Gates (A, B, C) will go through the front entrance of the BLC. (Say BLC in your best Snoop Dogg impersonation and you’re a legend) This is just a few steps away from where the entrance has been for the past number of years, so it’s not a dramatic change – just wanted to give everyone the heads up.

Q: – Should I Bring Cash?

Yep. We appreciate plastic just as much as the next person, but cash is king at the Festival. We have teams walking around (pictured) that will be selling tokens and they’ll only accept cash. We’re not saying empty your bank account, but be prepared if you want to move around quickly.  ATMs will be on site. Token Booths do accept Credit Card Payments, but we always reco cash for getting ‘er done quickly.

Q: How Do I Get Tokens?

Tokens are the onsite currency. 1 token = $1. Most samples onsite are 1 token for a 4oz pour. Some brewers charge more: imports and premium brands. There are dedicated booths that sell tokens, along with mobile token teams. They will be easy to spot.

Q: Can I Bring A Backpack?

The quick answer is no… Bags are restricted to small purses, totes and drawstring bags only. Bag size may not exceed 14” x 11” x 5” (35cm x 28cm x 12cm), or 30 linear inches (75cm) in total, and must have no more than one singular pocket or opening. We’ll be using metal detector wands and searching all small bags, totes, and drawstring bags at the gate – it’s not that we don’t trust you, it’s just how it goes! You’ve all been to events before and witnessed someone giving security a hard time over searching their belongings. The reason we do it is not because you’re a criminal, but because we want everyone to be safe and have a great time.

Q: What If I Want To Drive?

Don’t drive! It’s a Beer Festival and chances are you’ll be enjoying some beverages. Please enjoy the convenience of the TTC, a cab, an Ubes or even a Lyft. Yeah, we said Ubes. Just no drinking and driving whatsoever.  If you are the DD, here’s some parking info: we do not have designated parking for the festival. We recommend finding Pay Parking in Liberty Village or just avoiding driving altogether, if that’s an option for you.

Q: What Is There To Eat at TFOB 2018?

In a word… LOTS. The food purveyors we have this year are second to none. See the entire LIST! Explore them all and be sure to take lots of eating breaks. This is all part of #TasteTFOB – our commitment to providing an incredible food experience.

Q: Will There Be Water For Me To Drink?

You need to stay hydrated. We have FREE WATER available all weekend long through our festival Quench Buggy which will be there strictly for drinking. Do not bring your water bottle from home, they will be taken away.

Q: What Happens If It Rains? Or If It’s Too Hot?

Whatever the weather, we will still be pouring. Rain or shine, the show goes on! Remember to dress for the weather and wear sunblock. Even if it is grey and cloudy, wear sunblock. This is vital. Sunblock and water are soooooooo key!! Your raincoat, rubber boats, umbrella may make your experience if it calls for rain.

Q: Do You Really have 416 Brews To Discover?

About 100 brewers from all over the world will be here. Try something new, something crazy or maybe something you can’t pronounce. Let us open your eyes to a whole new world of beer. *Starts singing A Whole New World from Aladdin*. Seriously, At TFOB we have every type of brewer imaginable. From big to small, and, from local to international. Plus, this year we are featuring three exciting TFOB Spotlights: Women In Beer, Victoria, BC with Phillips Brewing & Malting Co., and Funk Town.

That’s it! We can’t wait to see you all this weekend at TFOB 2018.

beerloverheader

We know you have a few beer lovers on your list. Now stop looking in the mirror, we’re talking about giving gifts to others. We searched the interwebz – specially our beer partners websites – and found some amazing gifts. Check ‘em out…

Retro Lunch Box from Steam Whistle

Steam whistle lunch boxReminiscent of a 1950’s construction worker’s lunch box, this is a super cool gift for the beer lover in your life. Let’s face it, whomever you buy this for most likely will not be slugging it around with a spam sandwich. Chances are it will be on display… up on the shelf, in the office – OR – if you have kids… full of Lego pieces. Either way, a solid choice for a beer gift.

lfh161z19aLet’s say you have a friend. And this friend likes things like flowery surf shirts and Jimmy Buffet. Well say ‘aloha’ to this can coozie which keeps your cans cold and your hands free. International shipping may apply to this bad boy.

Flight Paddle with glasses from Brock Street Brewing Company

FLIGHT PADDLE WITH 4 SAMPLE GLASSESThis is the perfect type of gift for that special someone in your life that is always trying to get others to try different brews. Makes sense to have something like this in the house, so you arent’t all tasting from the same can or bottle… GROSS!!  Seriously, this is a smart gift from the Ontario Brewing Award winner for Newcomer of the Year. Whitby, represent!

Blanket from Goose Island

medium_100018739-34b271d567f1b1911bc45d8c1a6c58adWrap up winter with a Goose Island Jaquard blanky. We had to google what jacquard meant, but we’re glad we know now. You cannot go wrong with a blanket. One size fits all. If you have a Goose Island lover in your life, then we found you the perfect gift! Shipped from the US of A.

Punk Album from Beau’s All Natural Brewery

audio_visceral_-_back_largeIt’s called Audio Visceral and it’s from a band that the co-founder of Beau’s is in. It might be good, it might be… um… not so good, but one thing is for certain… for the Beau’s fan in your life it will blow their mind.

Chutney from Old Speckled Hen

old-spec-hen-chutneyThis product is from the UK, but we couldn’t resist adding to our list. Imagine how fancy you will feel when you present to your loved one… *clears throat* “May I present Old Speckled Hen Chutney made with caramelised red onion chutney infused with a generous glug of Old Speckled Hen”.

Red Light from Budweiser

red_lightThey say we (Canadians) are obsessed with hockey. They may right, since these red lights keep selling! Sync it up with your fav team and celebrate each goal properly. This is a must have for anyone with an unusual affinity for under armour shirts and a passion for hockey.

Become Part Owner of Innis & Gunn

original__largeThey are looking for investors and if you invest on someone’s behalf as a Christmas gift, they may write songs about you and your generosity. You will instantly become a hero. Legendary status.

Grilling Tongs from Sam Adams

bbcsa1640-hSomething feels so right about these branded grilling tongs. Sure you have to order from the USA, but it’s Samuel Adams people! Jim Koch’s story about starting this brewery is a pretty good story and will no doubt be re-told every time you fire up the grill!

Take a look at the video below to get a taste of what TFOB is all about. #TFOB2017 is July 28-30 Bandshell Park, Exhibition Place. This year our feature country is *drum roll please* … CANADA! No better time than Canada’s 150th celebration aka: #Canada150, to raise a glass with breweries and brews from coast to coast!
