The TekSavvy Tap Series with Fenelon Falls Brewing Co.

Newbrews-Brewer_Fenlon

Beer discovery is the most important part of Toronto’s Festival of Beer. We offer hundreds of brews to try: some you have heard of, and some maybe not. We have created the New Brews presented by TekSavvy programme to do two things: 1) Allow brewers who have never been to our event the chance to feature their product to the masses. 2) Allow beer lovers the chance to discover new brews.

As part of this programme, we will be rolling out information about each participating brewer throughout the month of June in a series we are calling the TekSavvy Tap Series, to help you get to know who our New Brews are! So, without further ado – here is Fenelon Falls Brewing Co:

What made you want to become a brewer? Tell your story!

Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. was founded by my wife and I. I immigrated to Canada in the 1970s, arriving in Fenelon Falls not knowing a soul, a word of English, or really having a place that felt like home. That didn’t last long. The town welcomed my family unequivocally in every way.

Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. is an expression of all of that—accepting opportunities, and applying the effort necessary to put a bit of good into the world. It’s a way of saying thanks, playing part in the life of the community, and paying forward the tradition of hospitality that has meant so much to us.

Our brewery offers handcrafted premium beer made in small batches. Our brewing philosophy is to keep our ingredients simple and our processes to a minimum to make beer that allows the flavours and aromas to shine through. Of course, all our beer is brewed with no additives and no preservatives. The way it should be.

What kind of beers will you be bringing to TFOB 2018? If you have tasting notes that you could share with fans, it will paint a picture of what they can expect?

Vienna Lager

  • Traditional Vienna and Munich malts combine to deliver a flavourful, medium body with gentle hop notes and a refreshingly distinctive finish

Red Ale

  • A supremely approachable deep red ale combining sweet caramel notes with citrus aromas for a refreshingly smooth, clean finish

What are you most excited about participating at TFOB 2018?

Fenelon Falls is known as the jewel of the Kawarthas, and we’re extremely excited to showcase what Fenelon has to offer. We’ll be operational in September and invite you to drop by, sample flavours exclusively available in our taproom and see where the beer is made. Come by boat, car, bus, bike, or foot. The town is always here to welcome you!

Where can people find more information about your brewery, other brews you are making, etc?

Great question! People can find more information by visiting our website www.fenelonfallsbrewing.com and by following us on social media:

Facebook: @fenelonbrewco
Instagram: @fenelonbrewco
Twitter: @fenelonbrewco

Make sure you check out the New Brews presented by TekSavvy on-site at TFOB 2018. There will be 12 brewers showcasing the fruits of their labour, along with free WiFi for beer lovers to share their discoveries.  We will feature each brewer leading up to TFOB 2018. And yes, the New Brews presented by TekSavvy pavilion will be on-site for all four days of TFOB.

8 – Think Ca$h

We appreciate plastic just as much as the next person, but cash is king at the Festival. We have teams walking around that will be selling tokens and they’ll only accept cash. We’re not saying empty your bank account, but be prepared if you want to move around quickly.  ATMs will be on site. Token Booths do accept Credit Card Payments, but we always reco cash for getting ‘er done quickly.

7 – Tokens

Tokens are the onsite currency. 1 token = $1. Most samples onsite are 1 token for a 4oz pour. Some brewers charge more: imports and premium brands.

6 – Your Backpack Will be Searched

We’ll be using metal detector wands and searching backpacks at the gate – it’s not that we don’t trust you, it’s just how it goes! You’ve all been to events before and witnessed someone giving security a hard time over searching their belongings. The reason we do it is not because you’re a criminal, but because we want everyone to be safe and have a great time.

5 – Don’t Drink & Drive

Don’t drive! It’s a Beer Festival and chances are you’ll be enjoying some beverages. Not only do we not want you to drink and drive, but it’s going to be a challenge maneuvering your way around the city with large events going on.  Please enjoy the convenience of the TTC or a cab or an Ubes. Yeah, we said Ubes.

4 – Great Beer is Great Beer

Try something new, something crazy or maybe something you can’t pronounce. Let us open your eyes to a whole new world of beer. *Starts singing A Whole New World from Aladdin*. Seriously, there are over 18 brewers to sample from, but don’t forget about your old favourites! See who is coming HERE.

3 – Bring Your Appetite

The food purveyors we have this year are second to none. See the entire LIST! Explore them all and be sure to takel ots of eating breaks.

2 – Marshmallows & Bocce & Soccer Darts & Live Music

Spring Sessions has all the fixings of a cottage. This includes fire pits and marshmallows. Fans can expect us to break the marshmallows out each day around 4pm. The Bocce courts are provided by Track & Field and the soccer darts and other sporting activities are provided by the Toronto Sport & Social Club. Alt-Country outfit Elliott Brood will play live on Saturday May 20 and Canadian Rockers The Trews will play live on Sunday, May 21.

1 – Drink Water & Dress for the Weather

Seriously, stay hydrated. Each booth has free bottled water. All you have to do is ask for it. And you can also take your commemorative mug (which you get when you arrive), rinse it out and fill it up at a water station. And don’t forget to wear sunblock. Even if it is grey and cloudy. This is vital. Sunblock and water are soooooooo key!! Your raincoat, rubber boats, umbrella may make your experience better since the Sunday forecast calls for rain.

After 12:00pm: Sunday Tickets Are Only Available At The Gate. They are $45.

Before Noon: you can still purchase SUNDAY tickets online:
